The World Fantasy Award Noms are IN

...and we've got three of them!

The Very Best of Fantasy & Science Fiction by Gordon Van Gelder, ed. is nominated for Best Anthology. We Never Talk About my Brother by Perter S. Beagle is nominated for Best Collection, and our very own Jacob and Rina Weisman are nominated in the Special Award category for being damn fine professionals!

You can see the rest of the nomination list over at Locus Online. It's a fantastic list, so don't let me hear you whine about having nothing to read unless you've already finished everything on it.

SF in SF presents ARMY OF DARKNESS and HOUSE II

Hello San Franciscans! I have come back from a lovely European vacation just to let you know that tonight's SF in SF double feature is a guaranteed good time.

Come join us for Army of Darkness followed by House II, two great horror-comedies that get even better when you throw in free popcorn and a bar.

If you live in the Bay Area and want to liven up your Wednesday, there's no reason to miss this one.

Doors open and bar open at 6, the films start at 6:30.

Remember, all proceeds from the cash bar go to the Variety Children's charity. Get drunk, give back, and help raise money for pediatric wheelchairs! But after you do, don't drive home! The Variety Preview Room is just steps away from the Montgomery BART/MUNI stop.

See you tonight!

Variety Children's Charity Preview Room Theatre

Nick Monfort posted a delightfully concise (1K words!) review of The Secret History of Science Fiction, commenting "Even the weakest stories in here are well-written and worthwhile; most go far beyond that, making for a truly great collection."

Linda Esler at NorthJersey.com lauded Andrew Fox's The Good Humor Man: "The Good Humor Man is funny but makes some serious points. It won me with the first line, 'I remember cheese.' Of course, I can't help loving a book in which Elvis saves the world. Treat yourself...."
